Parma CERT Special Bulletin -November 10, 2009

Thank you for your participation in the Community Emergency Response Team of the City of Parma.  Due to the present Public Health issue (H1N1) the County Board of Health is seeking volunteers from the local CERT groups

·        CERT members will not be vaccinated prior to the vaccination of the predetermined group they are in as citizens.  There will be no preference for vaccination of CERT members.

·        CERT members will be sent to any of the POD locations as determined by the needs of the County Board of Health.

The following is the text of the original notice from the Cuyahoga County Emergency Management Agency:

Today the Cuyahoga County Board of Health announced to emergency managers, fire chiefs, and POD leaders that PODs will be opened to distribute the H1N1 vaccine.  There will be a public announcement on Wednesday, November 11.

Here is what you need to know:

1.        The PODs will take place on Sunday, November 15, 2009.

2.        The PODs will open at 8:00 A.M. and close at 5:00 P.M.9 hours) or when the vaccine supply is exhausted (Publicized hours will be 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM).

3.        Volunteers will be needed.

4.        Volunteers should commit to the full day, but partial shifts will be considered if necessary.

5.        The PODs will be at:

Olmsted Falls Middle School                      27045 Bagley Rd.           Olmsted Township

Brush High School                                      4875 Glenlyn Rd.            Lyndhurst

Brecksville-Broadview Hts Board of Education  6638 Mill Rd.           Brecksville

6.        Volunteers may or may not be assigned to the POD closest to their homes, so they should be prepared to accept assignments at any of the three PODs. 

7.        We may not be able to pre-announce the tasks that volunteers will be assigned to, but they will not be asked to do something they are not capable of doing.

8.        There will be no observers or spectators.  Everyone must be assigned to a leader and a task.

9.        Volunteers must pre-register.  No walk-ins.  No spontaneous volunteers.

10.        Volunteers must follow the Incident Command System.  All volunteers must check in when they arrive and check out when they are demobilized.

11.        A CERT or Citizen Corps or MRC ID badge is required at check-in.
